Wurzburg

3 September, 1796

Following the clash at Amberg, Archduke Charles again fought with General Jourdan at Wurzburg and, as at that previous meeting, carried a distinct numerical superiority going into the battle.

His 44,000 troops flanked 30,000 Frenchmen, on both wings, and sent Jourdan reeling backwards in a series of desperate rearguard actions.

French losses were 3000 men at Wurzburg, while the victors had half that many.
